Malaysia - An Open Destination For Foreign Students

There are many countries that are offering academic programs to international students. Countries like the United States, Australia, France, Spain and many other developed nations are not exerting much effort to lure foreign students to study in their universities, but apparently, more foreign students decide to enrol in them.
Some other countries are even making initiatives to lure and convince foreign students into enrolling in their universities. These countries hope to make the activity a form of indirect boost to tourism figures and revenues. Thinking about this, foreign students are still tourists in their own way. They still have allowances to spend and they relay the beauty they observe in their host country to friends and families they have in their homelands.
Malaysia is one of the countries that aim to convince more foreign students to enrol in their universities. The country promotes the advantage of getting college and masters degrees at its academic institutions. Malaysia openly invites foreign students to try out enrolling and studying locally.
There are many reasons why studying in Malaysia is attractive to foreign students. The government of Malaysia claims that most universities are public, meaning the institutions can be considered as research universities. There are also private universities, but Malaysia ensures that the quality of education offered in public institutions is as good.
Many foreign students enrolling in Malaysia come from the Middle East. As such, it is said that these foreign students do not see significant differences in the culture because being a Muslim country Malaysia is similar in most respects. A third reason is that the country is considered as a safe nation to be in because there is not much of a terrorist threat.
Ultimately, studying in Malaysia is affordable. Tuition fees are cheaper and practical compared to matriculation fees charged by universities in other countries.

How to find a house or apartment in Manitoba?

For many newcomers, finding a safe, affordable place to live can be an immediate challenge, especially since housing varies greatly between from community to community, and from neigbhourhood to neighbourhood within a city.
Manitoba’s house prices are among the lowest in Canada. However, finding an affordable apartment to rent can be a challenge. Winnipeg, for example, has the lowest rental vacancy rate in Canada (99 per cent of apartments are occupied). If you need advice in finding housing, contact your local immigrant settlement service; in Winnipeg, contact your neighbourhood immigrant settlement worker.
How to find a house or apartment in Manitoba
When you are looking for a place to live consider neighbourhood qualities – the location of schools, shopping, buses, safety, recreational and community services. In Winnipeg and other cities, housing costs vary by neighbourhood, with the inner-city generally the least expensive.
Renting
Find a place to rent in the classified ad section of the Winnipeg Free Press (or newspaper in your community), or in the Home Renters Guide. The guide is available for free at many stores and banks, or visit the websitehometrader.ca.
Another good website is Winnipeg Rental Network. It includes information specific to newcomers.
Before you start looking for an apartment: Read the Manitoba Rental Factsheet. It explains how to rent an apartment or house. It explains the rental process and the rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlords in Manitoba.
Buying
For home and condomium sales try the sites (also available in print for free at many stores and banks): Real Estate News and ComFree.
Where to get help
New Journey Housing is a free service. This organization trains and assists immigrants in finding decent, affordable apartments and houses.
If you live outside Winnipeg and need help with housing questions, contact your local immigrant settlement service.
Learn more about housing
The government agency Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) created this guide for immigrants. It explains how to rent an apartment, buy a house and look after your home. The information is in English, French and six other languages. The guide includes videos, checklists and other resources for immigrants.

Living in your home
Property taxes
Homeowners must pay property taxes each year to your local (municipal) government. The amount depends on the type of home, location and the size of the lot. In Winnipeg you can choose to pay your taxes by month. For information visit Winnipeg Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) or phone 986-2161.

Rentors do not pay property taxes.
Utilities
Home owners and rentors must pay for utilities. Homes have meters that measure the amount of a utility you use. The utility company sends you a bill in the mail. For renters, some costs may be included in your rent.

All homes are connected to the electricity network. In Manitoba this service is called “hydro” because the electricity is generated at hydro-electric stations. In Winnipeg most homes are connected to the natural gas network. Furnaces that heat homes are fuelled by either electricity, gas or oil. Manitoba Hydro supplies gas and electricity.
The supply of water into your home, and the sewer service is the responsibility of your municipality. In Winnipeg, it is the water and waste department. Most apartment renters are not billed separately for the water they use.
Houses in some rural districts have an underground water cistern for the water supply and an underground septic tank for sewage. In this case, you must contact local suppliers to have water brought to your home by truck and to have the sewage pumped out of your septic tank and taken away. You can find suppliers in the phone book or from your municipal office.
Garbage and recycling
Apartment building garbage disposal is a service provided by building management. For homeowners, recycling and garbage is picked up from your home as a free public service. (Winnipeg recycling and garbage information)

Home safety

Emergencies: If you need fire, police or ambulance services at your home phone 911. An emergency operator will help you and contact the necessary emergency service. Fire and police are free services. (Some rural communities may not have 911 phone service; contact your municipal office for information on what number to call in an emergency.)

How to Extend your study permit in CANADA?

Renewing your study permit
If you want to extend your stay in Canada as a student, you must complete the Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada. Check the expiry date on your study permit, and make sure you apply before that date. You should apply for renewal at least 30 days before your current permit expires.
Note: Children who are less than 17 years of age and studying in Canada without a parent or legal guardian must complete and include the Custodianship declaration (IMM 5646) with their study permit application.
Determine how you will apply
There are two ways you can apply:
Apply online: To apply online you must have access to a scanner or camera to create electronic copies of your documents for uploading and have a valid credit card for payment. Apply online.
Apply on paper: The package includes the application guide and all the forms you need to fill out. Download the application package.
If you apply for a renewal of your study permit, and the permit expires before you receive an answer, you can continue to study in Canada under the same conditions until you receive a decision.
You should apply to renew your study permit if you intend to travel outside Canada and your permit will expire while you are travelling.
You cannot extend your study permit beyond the expiry date on your passport.
If your study permit has expired, and you have not applied for an extension, you must leave Canada.
Restoring your status:
In some cases, you may apply to restore your status as a student within 90 days of losing it. You may only apply if you have continued to meet the requirements under which you were allowed to enter and stay in Canada and you have met all the conditions imposed on your permit.
After you apply to restore your status, you may stay in Canada until a decision is made on your application but you are not allowed to study until your status has been restored.
There is no guarantee that your application to restore your status will be accepted. On your application, you must provide full details of all the facts and circumstances that caused you to lose your status.
In addition to a fee for renewing your study permit, there is also a fee for restoring your status. The fee is required for each family member who has lost status. To find out about application fees, go to Pay my application fees.
An officer will evaluate your request for restoration of status and will process an application for a study permit. Citizenship and Immigration Canada will advise you of any further action to be taken.

Study In Ireland

Ireland Student Visas
Future Link Visa Consultants specialize in Irishimmigration and visa services helping candidates and businesses alike to obtain the visas and work permits they need. To find out whether you qualify for an Irish student visa, visit the online assessment area today.
Studying in Ireland is an more and more popular option for overseas students and with a broad range of educational establishments including nine universities and fourteen technology institutes, Ireland has a lot to offer. Although Irish study visas are issued as a temporary Irish immigration service the potential is offered for a study visa applicant to work towards permanent residency. In Ireland, the graduate programme extends an applicant's stay in Ireland, allowing them to seek employment.
Why Ireland ?
Irish student visas may be granted for the duration of the student’s course in Ireland although it is important to ensure that you apply for the right type of study visa. In Ireland, study visas are issued in two categories, the ‘C visa’, and the ‘D visa’. The former is designed for those who will be studying in Ireland on a very short-term course of less than three months; the latter is for those who need to study in Ireland for three months or more.
Study visas are not intended as a route to living and working in Ireland per se, however, they do permit the applicant to engage in a limited amount of work in Ireland to supplement their income. Students may work part time in Ireland for a maximum of 20 hours per week. However, visa applicants will be expected to be able to support themselves and any dependents during their time in Ireland and this must not be based upon the ability to work once they arrive in Ireland.
One of the key benefits of an Irish studyvisa is that students graduating from Irish institutions may be able to participate in the graduate programme. The graduate scheme applies to all students who successfully obtain a tertiary qualification from an Irish institution and allows the candidate to remain in Ireland for an additional six months during which time they may seek full time employment. If a candidate secures a position of employment they may be able to remain in Ireland through an Irish work permit or by making a green card application.
How To Apply ?
The key requirement of an Irish study visa application is that the candidate must be in possession of a confirmed offer of acceptance from an Irish university or college. The candidate must be able to provide a letter of acceptance as part of their application which shows that they have been awarded a place on a full time course of study at a recognised educational institution in Ireland. The course must comprise at least 15 hours of study per week and in addition candidates must be able to show that the course fees have been paid in full.
Another important factor in applying for an Irish studentpermit is that candidates must have demonstrable proficiency in the English language. Officially, English is the second language of Ireland behind Gaelic; however, English is far more widely used and in most cases will be the language through which university studies are taught. As a result candidates must have a sufficient grasp of English to enable them to complete their course of study.
Finally, as outlined above candidates must be able to financially support themselves and any dependents throughout their time in Ireland and they must be able to show that they have adequate medical insurance in place. Although the graduate scheme may lead to the candidate and his or her dependents remaining in Ireland beyond the study visa grant, Irish study visas are nonetheless issued as temporary visas for Ireland. As a result, in the first instance applicants must be able to show that it is their intention to return to their country of residence.
Irish Student Visa – Family immigration
The immediate family members of the main study visaapplicant may reside in Ireland for the same amount of time as that granted to the main applicant. A study visa may result in the applicant living in Ireland for a period of several years or perhaps indefinitely. As a result the spouse or partner, and dependent children may also relocate to Ireland. Dependents will be permitted to work where the applicant’s course has a duration of more than one year.
The Future Link Visa Consultants online assessment area makes it easy to get your Irish student visa application started. Just complete one of our straightforward forms today and a specialist Irish immigration consultant will contact you.
